Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 has already received rave reviews from games critics and that has unsurprisingly translated into sales, $500m worth of them in fact
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 has now become the largest entertainment launch of 2012 with over $500 million sales in 24 hours. The game is set in both the future and the past as it follows the story of Mason, first seen in Black Ops, and his son.
The series has already become the biggest selling entertainment franchise beating the combined box office sales of the Harry Potter series and all the Star Wars films.
To launch the game around 16,000 stores opened at midnight with millions of fans attending to pick up their copies before anyone else. The company does however remain cautious about the coming year with developers finding it harder and harder to find bankroll for the blockbuster games that users have come to expect.
The game is available now on Xbox 360 and PS3 and comes with a newly enhanced Zombies mode along with an all-new campaign which features futuristic weapons and technology.
