Google doodles final Sesame Street 40th birthday logo
The whole street joins in the celebrations
Google marks the 40th birthday of Sesame Street today, with its final doodle featuring the entire Sesame Street gang climbing over the search engine’s logo.
- Google’s most memorable doodles
This doodle follows a week-long series of images that has seen Bert and Ernie, Count Von Count, Big Bird and Cookie Monster adorn the Google logo.
In the United States today, the Street kicks off its 41st season, with Michelle Obama as its guest star. After 40 years the show still has major pull in Hollywood - other stars booked for the show this year include Cameron Diaz, Matthew Fox and Ricky Gervais.
Google has a long history of celebrating cultural icons and in recent weeks has paid tribute to HG wells, Wallace and Gromit and Michael Jackson. Though after a week of Sesame Street Google doodles, here at T3 we just can’t seem to get the Sesame Street theme tune out of our heads.

There wasn't going to be a Cookie Monster Veggie Monster conversion when the rumors started a few years ago, and it still will never happen. Cookie Monster will always remain Cookie Monster. The rumors started a few years ago with a series of complaints that Cookie Monster advocated kids to eat too many sweets. It is the 40th Anniversary of Sesame Street, so it's understandable why people are concerned – but take heart, Cookie Monster will still love cookie – but now emphasizes a more balanced and healthy diet. There will be no Cookie Monster Veggie Monster change, so don't waste low interest loans investigating false rumblings over nothing.
