HTC Desire HD to launch October 22nd on Vodafone

Desire HD coming next week, Desire Z still delay hit

Desire HD to arrive ahead of Desire Z

Mobile network provider Vodafone has reportedly confirmed that it will begin shipping the delayed HTC Desire HD next week on October 22nd.

Originally scheduled for release in the UK tomorrow, October 14th, the Desire HD, which was officially unveiled during HTC’s London-based conference last month, has been held back due to a Google “type approval” testing issue.

Announced alongside the Desire HD in London, the QWERTY slider HTC Desire Z is also facing delays from the apparent type approval issues. Whist Vodafone has remained tight-lipped on the arrival of the Desire Z, online retailer Amazon has pegged the Android powered handset with a November 1st release priced £430 sim-free.

Users will be able to get the 1GHz processor, 8-megapixel camera touting HTC Desire HD free on a two year Vodafone contract that for £35 per month will offer 900 minutes, unlimited text messages and 750MB of monthly inclusive data when pre-ordered online.

Picking up the Desire HD from one of Vodafone’s highstreet stores will offer a slightly amended deal, however, with the same contract length and pricing reaping the rewards of just 600 minutes and 500MB of inclusive data.
