Expanding on the popular range of Nike+ enabled sporting equipment, Nike has officially launched the performance monitoring FuelBand in the UK
Being made available to UK shoppers and sports fans today, May 1st, the Nike+ FuelBand was officially unveiled back in January as a daily exercise and motion tracker that monitors your activity levels, relaying your performance data alongside the new NikeFuel measurement.
Having been limited in terms of stock levels when the FuelBand originally launched in the US with only select stores offering the device and limiting the number of per customer purchases, the low stock issues look set to follow the Jawbone Up rival to its UK release.
Making the announcement via the company’s official UK Facebook page yesterday, a Nike spokesperson said: “Let's #makeitcount, London. Tomorrow, the Nike+ FuelBand touches down at NikeTown London, Oxford Circus at 10am. Get there early to avoid to ensure you get your hands on one.”
During the FuelBand’s official unveiling earlier in the year, an event which saw a host of high-profile sports stars sing the device’s praises, the sporting behemoth confirmed a £139 Nike+ FuelBand UK price tag.
Allowing users to set daily targets and activity goals, the FuelBand boasts a series of 20 LEDs that transform through a spectrum from red to green as you near your lefty fitness ambitions. Featuring a host of accelerometer wizardry the wrist-worn gadget allows users to monitor and relay a host of data parameters including time active, steps taken, calories burned and of course NikeFuel levels.
“What's great about the idea of NikeFuel and the FuelBand is the way it provides real information and numbers to show how much people are doing all day, every day,” said seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong. “That’s what will get people challenging themselves to do more and better their own scores. It’s a tool to get people more active."
