Readers voted for the TomTom GO930 above all else

Whilst satellite navigation devices have been blamed by the press for a multitude of motoring mishaps over the past few years, TomTom's GO930 GPS system was tonight named Gadget You Can't Live Without at the 2nd Annual Garmin T3 Gadget Awards.

TomTom's top of the range GO930 was up against some tough contenders for the title, including Apple's mighty iPhone and the Nintendo Wii; however, despite the media hype these products have created, TomTom's popular device took the title in this reader-voted award. With over 54,000 votes cast in the 2nd Annual Garmin T3 Gadget Awards it seems that, when it comes to indispensable kit, a reliable and practical sat nav is top of the list for UK gadget lovers.

The GO930 has won praise for its ease of use, traffic receiver, Bluetooth functionality and innovative error report feature - finishing touches such as recordable voice commands and a handy built-in help guide have put this sat nav system streets ahead of the competition.

'Results like these are the reason we felt it was so important to include reader-voted categories in our awards,' says Michael Brook, Editor of T3 magazine. 'You might see stories about sat nav gaffes in the press, but the fact is that these are almost always down to human error and GPS systems are an indispensable piece of kit for many drivers. TomTom has long been a leading figure in the sat nav market, and this award shows that the GO930 has earned its place alongside design icons such as the iPod, in the technology halls of fame.'
