PSP gets three more colours in Europe
Forget games; look at the pretty colours
Sony has announced three new versions of the PSP are on their way to Europe. It will shortly be available in Mystic Silver and Pearl White, while a Radiant Red version will follow later.
Eagle-eyed readers will probably notice that these aren’t quite as exciting as the Carnival range, announced last week, and that silver, white and red PSPs have been around for donkey’s years. Well, unfortunately, we’re unlikely to see the more exciting colours outside Japan, but although other PSP colours have been available for some time, this is the first of the PSP-3000’s colour upgrades.
PSP-3000 is an incremental upgrade to the PSP handheld console. Changes in the new model include an enhanced, brighter and crisper screen, as well as an integrated microphone and TV-out socket. Other than that, it’s the same multimedia centric device, which still looks great over four years after been released.
The only real problem with the PSP is the ongoing lack of really decent titles. There’s an impressive back-catalogue for those who have never owned a PSP before, but new titles have been thin on the ground, especially of late. Sony is seeking to address that issue this year, with Resistance: Retribution already on its way. We also expect PSP versions of LittleBigPlanet and MotorStorm at some point too.
You’ll be able to pick up Mystic Silver and Pearl White later in the month. The Radient Red variety will be landing in March. All three will cost the usual £130.
