Strong opening day sales sees Final Fantasy XIII-2 dethrone FIFA 12 atop the UK Gaming Chart

Following six weeks atop the UK All Format Gaming Chart, FIFA 12 has slipped to fourth position with Final Fantasy XIII-2 filling the lead spot

EA Sports’ dominant football sim FIFA 12 has been dethroned as leader of the UK All Format Gaming Chart for the first time in 2012, as the newly released Final Fantasy XIII-2 takes top honours.

Following its official release on Friday, Final Fantasy XIII-2 rounded out the week as the UK’s highest selling game, forcing fellow new release Metal Gear Solid HD Collection into second position.

With EA’s epic first-person shooter Battlefield 3 completing the week ending February 4th in the final podium position, FIFA 12 has seen its six week spell as the Gaming Chart’s leader brought to an end, slipping to fourth position ahead of Soulcalubur V and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations in spots five and six respectively.

The highest grossing game of 2011, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, continues to shift units ending the week in seventh whilst The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Just Dance 3 and Saints Row: The Third complete the top ten.
