Android app news: Google Maps used more than Facebook
No room for Twitter in the top 20 most used connected apps.
Google Maps is the most-used connected app in the UK with over 6.4 million people using the handy-navigation app during the month of April alone.
In new research unveiled by comScore and GSM, Google Maps proved almost twice as possible as its nearest rival with Yahoo Weather (3.6m users) surprisingly beating Facebook into third place (3.5m users). Google Mobile, YouTube and eBay round out the top six.
Google Maps' surge to the become the most used app in the UK is obviously aided by being pre-loaded on all iPhone and Android devices, while Yahoo was able to beat Facebook due to it providing the weather data for the iPhone.
Sky also had a strong showing with four of its apps, Sky Live Football Centre, Sky News, Sky+ and Sky Sports all appearing in the top 20, while novely app Talking Tom Cat made a surprise showing at #15 with 422,000 users in the UK.
The top 20 most used connected apps has one notable exception: Twitter.
