Valve’s Portal 2 release has topped UK gaming charts in its opening week as strong Xbox sales help take the puzzle game to the all-format top spot.
Accounting for a reported 54 per cent of all opening week Portal 2 sales, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 console has seen fellow platform dominant title Call of Duty: Black Ops return to the podium taking up third position in the gaming charts behind Mortal Kombat.
With just 35 per cent of Portal 2 sales coming from the game’s PS3 release, Portal 2 could only achieve position two in the PS3 charts based on its opening week’s sales falling behind Warner’s Mortal Kombat with the continued PSN outage reportedly accounting for a chunk of this cross-platform sales difference.
Hip shaking dance release Zumba Fitness took fourth spot in the week’s gaming charts with Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars rounding out the top five ahead of Operation Flashpoint: Red River, FIFA 11 and Crysis 2 in sixth, seventh and eighth respectively. Wii Fit Plus and Homefront completed the top 10.
