Prime Day is a godsend for new SSD cards – here are 5 SSD deals I recommend at pre-RAMageddon prices
The price of SSD cards has gotten silly, so Amazon Prime Day couldn't have come too soon
As with RAM chips, SSD cards have seen their prices soar to ridiculous levels in the last six months or so – mainly due to AI data centres snaffling up components like pigs with truffles.
That's been awful news for PS5 owners wanting to upgrade their storage, or those opting to build their own PCs rather than buy a Steam Machine.
However, Amazon Prime Day looks to be our saviour. I've found many SSD cards – including PS5 compatible variants – is some great deals. The discounts mean they're around pre-RAMageddon prices for a limited time (until midnight Friday 26 June 2026).
So here are my top five picks, for the UK and US, of the best SSD card deals of Prime Day.
Top 5 editor's picks:
It's extremely rare today to find a capable 2TB M.2 SSD card under £200, so this deal is one to consider. It is listed as coming with a heatsink, and read speeds are a quoted 7350 MB/s.

This PCIe Gen 4 x4 NVME card boasts read speeds up to 7400 MB/s and while it doesn't come with a heatsink, it's now largely accepted that you don't need one for PS5 use.

I've used a lot of Lexar storage products in my kit and in the current climate, this looks to be a superb deal. Read speeds are rated at 7400 MB/s while write speeds are up to 6500 MB/s.

If you have a PCIe 5.0 setup and want pro standard speeds (up to 14,700 MB/s), this Samsung Pro card is a beast. It's also backwards compatible for PCIe 4.0 systems, including PS5.

4TB cards can cost the Earth today, so this Fanxiang model with a heatsink and speeds up to 7000MB/s represents a great option for power users.

There are plenty of other options available in the Prime Day sales, too. However, these are the five that have stood out most to me, and the ones I'd consider buying myself.
Remember, you will need to be a member of Amazon Prime to get the deal prices, but if not already you can sign up for a 30-day trial in the UK here, or US here.
Prime gives you a host of additional benefits, including Prime Video and free PC games and game streaming, but if you don't want to continue after Prime Day, you can cancel and not pay a penny in subscription fees.
It's also worth considering that Amazon UK has a £20 voucher promotion for Prime Day, so if you spend £80 or more in a single transaction (can be on multiple items in the same basket) you get a free £20 Amazon voucher back. Read more about that here.
