PSP Go games to cost the same as iPhone games

Smaller developers to also get in on the PSP Go act

PSP Go fans will be relieved to hear that game prices for Sony’s latest PSP addition will not be as astronomical as the cost of the hardware that goes with it.

Taking a leaf out of Apple’s book, games which are to be downloaded from the Playstation Network, will be priced in at 1 (85p), 2 (£1.70) and 5 (£4.30) Euros.

That pricing structure falls in line similarly with the one used on the App Store. With the highest priced game available on the App Store costing around £6, it looks to be a smart move from Sony.

Some will argue that the moves to adopt a more affordable catalogue of games will draw attention away from the much criticized £230 price tag currently hanging around the PSP Go’s neck when it launches in October.

But in a move to ensure you have a more steadier stream of games than the PS3, Sony also aims to allow smaller development studios to get in on the gaming action with Sony likely to take the substantially larger cut of the revenue.

Sony has already been in touch with iPhone game developers to bring existing titles to the Playstation Network, which will probably give those whose wallets can stomach the PSP Go console price, plenty of games to choose from.
