Once again suggesting social behemoth Facebook is to enter the hardware wars, new concept designs have emerged hinting at what a potential Facebook phone might look like.
Whilst Facebook phone rumours have circulated for a number of years, the Twitter rival has yet to confirm any plans to launch its first own-branded handsets, instead pairing with a number of existing manufacturers to offer a selection of officially licensed Facebook optimised handsets.
Toting a sleek, brushed aluminium design the latest Facebook phone concept features a number of aesthetical points similar to those on current high-end handsets included a rubberised top panel akin to a selection of HTC handsets and thicker top than bottom similar to the latest Motorola Razr.
Earlier this year, reports suggested Facebook is well underway on the development of its first handset with the company’s founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg bringing in a former lead Apple engineer to help pioneer the project.
“Mark is worried that if he doesn’t create a mobile phone in the near future that Facebook will simply become an app on other mobile platforms,” a Facebook employee said of the top secret project.
