Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has kicked off its likely long run of record breaking becoming the most pre-ordered game in Amazon history
Following today’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 release, online outlet Amazon.co.uk has confirmed that the latest instalment to the COD franchise has become the most pre-ordered game in the reailer’s history.
Beating former record holders and fellow COD franchise instalments Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, the newly launched Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 racked up a 32 per cent increase on pre-orders record held by Amazon.co.uk and looks set to go on to break sales records across the globe.
“The ‘Call of Duty’ series has performed consistently well with both ‘Black Ops’ and ‘Modern Warfare 2’ previously holding the all-time pre-order record,” said Liz Hosmer, video game manager at Amazon.co.uk.
“This year has seen the release of a raft of great titles with ‘Battlefield 3’ anticipated as a strong contender to ‘Modern Warfare 3’ but the latest offering in the ‘Call of Duty’ series is the most popular title of the year to date by some distance.”
Earlier today industry analyst with research firm Sterne Agee, Arvind Bhatia, predicted that huge pre-order figures and midnight openings across to world would see developer Activision shift in the region of 6 million Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 copies in its opening day on sale.
