Channel surfing with a Kinect twist

Microsoft has confirmed that Kinect will have gesture and voice-control support when it launches in the UK on November 10th.

It means that Kinect owners will be able to scroll through menus and select channels using the motion sensing peripheral. You will also be able to pause, rewind and play using Kinect's voice recognition hardware.

A press release by the company revealed: "Selecting a favourite show, changing live channels, or easily scrolling forward and back through on-demand content is all made possible by a simple wave of a hand."

Sky Player arrived on the Xbox 360 last year, givingXbox Live Gold members with at least 2Mb broadband and either a Sky TV or Sky Player subscription, access to 32 channels which include sport and movies. Non-Sky customers will need to pay £15 a month to get access to the Sky content.

The Kinect integrated service is expected to be available as Microsoft Kinect hits UK stores.
