2 million users access Facebook on Xbox 360 in the first week

An initial success, clearly, but how many will go back?

Microsoft has said that adding Facebook, Twitter and Last.fm to the Xbox 360’s Live online hub has gone down a storm. According to the company, over 2 million users accessed Facebook within the first week of the service going live. This accounts for 10 per cent of the 20 million Live users.

Last.fm saw similar immediate success, with half a million accounts being created in the first 24 hours of the streaming service’s Xbox career. 120 million minutes of music was streamed via Last.fm in the first week.

Microsoft has remained tight-lipped on the exact numbers of Twitter users, which suggests that the microblogging site hasn’t seen as much 360 success as Facebook, but Microsoft exec Niel Thompson has said that there have been "tweets from nearly every market where we have Xbox Live."

He went on to say of the updates as a whole: "It's just about giving people choice and giving them a slightly different experience. The Facebook and Twitter applications are bespoke to the service, they do have Xbox Live unique features, such as being able to see which Xbox Live friends are online, et cetera. And over time I'm sure that will evolve as well."

The question remains though, will these people who logged on initially be inclined to go back? Do you use Facebook or Twitter on Xbox Live? Let us know below.
