Nikon D3S DSLR camera gets official launch
Paparazzi-friendly cam for a pro snapper's salary
The Nikon D3 sits proudly amongst T3's top 10 digital SLR cameras, so we have high hopes for the high-end big brother, the Nikon D3S.
The pro-friendly camera packs an all-new 12.1-megapixel FX-format CMOS sensor and is now able to offer ISO 200 to 12,800, but can hit the dizzy heights of 102,400 thanks to expanded sensitivity settings. Perfect for chasing minor soap stars down dark alleys at 3am, not bad at taking an eye-catching snap on a gloomy day either.
Other notable features include ther D-Movie mode, which means HD video (720p variety) at 24fps with the option of saving frames as JPEG files and talking of files, there's also in-camera editing system for RAW files, where you can change basic settings without a PC, saving as a JPEG file. There's also an Image Sensor Cleaning function to reduce instances of image degradation from dust, full resolution continuous shooting at 9fps, a 3-inch super density LCD screen and Nikon's EXPEED Image Processing System, which offers faster processing speeds, lower power consumption and enhanced colour reproduction.
It's good, but the Nikon DS3 comes at a price. That price is £4,199.99 for the body, shelf date is December.
