Amazon has some really good deals on gadgets, but only for those with a Prime Membership. And while I admit that, compared to a high-value tech product, Prime Membership isn't that much, you know just as well as I do that Amazon will try to find a way to get you locked in.

A better way to buy gadgets is to find them elsewhere – preferably at the brand's own shop, which is exactly the case with Insta360. Better still, the company slashed the price of what I think is still the best 360-degree action camera, the X5.

Insta360's flagship 360 camera shoots up to 8K video, uses larger sensors for improved image quality, and lets you reframe footage after filming. Add class-leading stabilisation, replaceable lenses and up to 208 minutes of battery life, and it's one of the most versatile action cameras money can buy – especially at this price point!

The Insta360 X5 is the latest flagship 360-degree action camera from Insta360, packed with features aimed at creators, adventurers and anyone who wants maximum flexibility from their footage.

It has dual 1/1.28-inch sensors paired with a triple AI chip system to improve image quality, dynamic range and low-light performance. The camera can capture 8K/30fps 360-degree video, alongside 5.7K/60fps and 4K/120fps recording modes.

Like other 360-degree cameras, the X5's can record every angle simultaneously and then reframe shots afterwards in the Insta360 app. New additions include InstaFrame, which automatically generates ready-to-share flat videos while also saving the full 360-degree file for later editing.

The X5 features user-replaceable lenses, improved waterproofing down to 15 metres without a housing, and a new magnetic mounting system for quicker accessory changes.

Battery life is among the best in the category, with the 2,400mAh battery delivering up to 208 minutes of recording in Endurance Mode and fast charging that can reach 80% in around 20 minutes.

FlowState stabilisation and 360 Horizon Lock keep footage smooth and level, while upgraded microphones and built-in wind protection improve audio quality for vlogging, cycling and outdoor adventures.
