Bose QC3 Headphones
These noise cancelling headphones may cost you a bomb, but at least you won't hear it go off.
It's really quite clever how these work. Bose employs a microphone on each ear which samples the level of background noise before all-but nullifying it. Switch them on and you can hear a huge difference, even without any music, meaning you can shut out screaming kids without turning Metallica up to 11.
The sound quality is outstanding, if appearing a little heavy on the bass initially, and the extra clarity gained from the noise cancelling feature really allows them to shine.
Design wise they're extremely lightweight and the compact on-ear speakers are really comfy. They're obviously built with quality in mind and fold away origami style into a solid case.
The lithium battery (No AAA input) charges up in less than an hour and it'll last for over twenty. They'll be rendered as useful as a one-legged man in a butt-kicking contest if you forget to turn them off, though.
They're a fine, fine set of 'phones that really do make unbearable public transport rides just about bearable, but, at £275, they are absolutely insanely priced.
