iPad supplies dry up ahead of 2 March launch

Apple stops production of original iPad according to report

Retailers unable to get hold of iPad stock.

Apple has reportedly stopped production of the original iPad, as it ramps up for the launch of the iPad 2 tomorrow, 2 March. Word is that retailers are unable to lay their hands on stock, with all six versions unavailable.

9to5mac says shops it’s spoken with cannot get hold of any more iPads and expect to run out in the next day. For its part, Apple is still stocking the iPad in its online store, with the soon-to-be old-school edition shipping within 24 hours.

The iPad 2 is widely expected to be unveiled tomorrow, with a slimmer design, lighter frame and front-facing camera. A white iPad 2 has also been spotted doing the rounds.
