For creative users, the MacBook Pro is a hard machine to beat. Apple's premium laptop has all the power and yet is completely portable. I do love the Mac mini for home use, but if i'm on the move, I will always have my MacBook Pro with me.
If like me though, you're considering upgrading yours, this current deal at Best Buy is likely to make the decision for you. While the newest MacBook Pro models use the M2 chip, the M1 chip is still lightning fast, especially in the Pro and Max versions.
If you're still running an Intel machine, making the move to one of Apple's silicon devices is a huge jump in both performance and battery life. Oftentimes, deals will focus on the base models – those with basic storage and acceptable RAM – but this one is different.
Best Buy currently has the MacBook Pro 14 with the M1 Pro chip on sale for $1998.99, a $500.01 saving on the list price. This model also comes with 16GB RAM and a 1TB SSD drive, which is the kind of spec that can handle anything you throw at it.
So, yes, the newer M2 chip versions might be a little quicker, but the M1 Pro ones are still incredible and at this price, an outstanding deal. You can also get big savings on the 16-inch MacBook Pro model with M1 Max chip and on the MacBook Air M2, which is also a great machine. These deals won't last long – not least as this is probably the last of the M1 stock.
