Following the arrival of the Google branded Samsung Galaxy Nexus Eric Schmidt has teased the imminent arrival of a Google heavy Nexus tablet
Google looks set to launch its first own branded tablet with the company’s president Eric Schmidt teasing the arrival of a Google Nexus tablet with the promise that the tablet wars with Apple are about to get ‘brutal’.
Speaking with the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, Schmidt teased the possible arrival of a Google heavy tablet with the presumed Ice Cream Sandwich device set to land within the next six months resulting in "brutal competition between Apple and Google Android.”
Stating that Google will be “marketing a tablet of the highest quality” in the coming months, Schmidt has sparked intrigue around the arrival of a Google designed true iPad competitor that will adopt the Android OS to its core.
Whilst Schmidt highlighted the intense battle between the two companies the former Google CEO was quick to heap praise on to his fierce rival, Apple co-founder and former CEO Steve Jobs.
“Steve Jobs was the Michelangelo of our time” he told the newspaper, “he realised the revolutionary potential of the tablet and has created an amazing product like the iPad.”
Despite the heartfelt admiration Schmidt showed for Jobs he remained firm on the competition surrounding the two tech giants stating “our companies compete, it is capitalism.”
