Nintendo 3DS sells out in Japan

Nintendo on course for 4 million global sales target.

The Nintendo 3Ds hit shelves in Japan over the weekend, but soon flew off of them, with the entire shipment of 400,000 selling out within 24 hours. Major stores in Tokyo reportedly ran out by midday on Saturday.

Pre-orders for the next batch of Nintendo 3DSs has already started, with the gaming giant easily on course to hit its target of shifting 1.5 million units in Japan by 31 March. It hopes to have sold 4 million globally by the same date.

The Nintendo 3DS goes on sale here in the UK on 25 March, and will set punters back £229.99, although some stores are already discounting the three-dimensional winner.
