Acer launches Android netbook
PC maker opts for Google tieup due out Q3
Acer has announced a version of its Aspire One netbook that will run the Android operating system.
The third-largest PC manufacturer promised the release would be on shelves by Q3 this year.
Explaining the move, Jim Wong, Acer's president of IT products, global operations said: “[The Android operating system offers] incredibly fast wireless connection to the Internet.

Although designed for mobile phones, the Android OS has seen significant interest in recent months from netbook manufacturers.
Acer also announced earlier this week that it will formally join the Open Handset Alliance (OHA), a Google-led group tasked with developing Android.
