Foursquare app comes to the Nokia Ovi Store

Nokia catching up with some big-name apps incoming

Social exploration application comes to Symbian handsets

Nokia World has not only brought a family of impressive-looking handsets from the Finnish giant, but also some top-line apps to the Nokia Ovi Store. Yesterday it was Angry Birds flying onto Symbian and today it's Foursquare.

Foursquare for Symbian was unveiled in London today and will bring the same functionality as the iPhone and Android iterations of the app, but with an interface designed specially to fit in with the Nokia UI.

Users will be able to link-up with their friends via Facebook, Twitter and their address book, pick up whether friends are close by and find out where they're hanging out.

The Foursquare app allows users to leave tips, add a location to the GPS-enabled library and also read tips from your friends on the best places to explore and the best deals to exploit.

The app has been a runaway success on other platforms, so it's about time Nokia got in on the action.

Foursquare for Nokia will be available for devices running Symbian ^3 like the forthcoming N8, but also for existing handsets operating on S60 and 3.2. It's out next week.
