Cut your commute with the Tube Exits iPhone app

Save time and shoe leather by getting to the fastest tube exit first

Arrived 10 minutes late for work again? The boss threatening a verbal or written warning? Well, if you work in the London area and get the tube to work, you need the Tube Exits iPhone app. Just as long as you have an iPhone or an iPod touch that is.

It's the work of Londoner Lance Stewart, who came up with the idea after (you guessed it) turning up late for a meeting, due to being stuck behind a crowd of people walking down the platform heading towards the escalator. For many of us, that would perhaps mean setting the alarm clock 30 minutes early the day after. But not Lance - he decided to travel on the 11 tube lines to visit all 268 stations several times to work out each and every possible combination of leaving the station or accessing a connecting line. The Tube Exits iPhone app is the fruit of his labours.

The app puts you ahead of your fellow commuters, offering the lowdown on the right carriage to be in for the exit you need, saving up to 10 minutes per journey during peak hour travel. Putting you back in the company's good books as well, throwing in a feeling of smugness as an added bonus. Don't have time to check your iPhone before you go down below? Don't worry - it even works without an internet connection, with your favourite journeys saved for 'one touch' access.

The Tube Exits iPhone app could save you your job and it's available for just £1.79 right now.
