Xbox 360's Sky Player TV service dated for October
Microsoft and Sky's telly team-up should hit in the next few weeks
A feature in this month's issue of the Sky subscriber magazine is promising streaming support for its Sky Player catch-up service via Xbox 360 in "mid October".
Content through the Sky Player will be available to all Xbox Live Gold members - the £5-a-month paying members club - but in order to access sport and movie content you will, of course, be required to have the relevant Sky TV packages down in the lounge on your proper TV.
Microsoft and Sky's decision to make Xbox 360 operate as a Sky box was announced back in May of this year, with the companies promising to upgrade the existing PC and Mac Sky Player service by adding in custom Xbox 360 features, like voice chatting with your friends while watching TV and being generally annoying with your stupid little Avatar.
A specific date for the Sky Player-enabling Xbox 360 firmware update - which will also include Microsoft's own Twitter and Facebook apps - is yet to arrive. Microsoft has traditionally updated its Xbox 360 software every spring and autumn, but the Sky Player site still only gives us a vague "coming soon".
