Vodafone 555 Facebook phone goes on sale

Budget social networking phone with dedicated Facebook button

After seeing the likes of the HTC Cha Cha and others appear, the popularity in social networks has clearly made an impact. Now Vodafone's involved with its own version the 555 Facebook phone.

Vodafone has released the Vodafone 555 Facebook phone, a budget handset which it hopes will cash in on the popularity of social networks.

The phone is definitely a budget handset, offering a non-touchscreen 2.4-inch display along with a QWERTY keyboard and of course, the dedicated Facebook button. Vodafone has put its own operating system on it, breaking the current trend to go with Androids earlier incarnations.

On the back you'll find a 2-megapixel camera with flash and with only 2G built-in you'll be limited to browsing the web on, at best, EDGE. The Vodafone 555 is available now and can be bought without a SIM for £62.50, however you'll only be able to use a Vodafone SIM with the phone.

What do you think, is the Vodafone 555 just the network cashing in or is it a trendy cheap alternative to social networking? Let us know what you think on Facebook and Twitter.
