Google Street View to feature in new online Monopoly game

Google's monopoly stretches to, erm... Monopoly.

Board game giant Hasbro has teamed up with Google to produce an online global version of Monopoly, where players can buy any street in the world using Google Maps.

Monopoly City Streets launches on Wednesday, for four months, with players worldwide given a £3 million budget to create the ultimate real estate empire, but this time you're not limited to Old Kent Road or Mayfair, you can nab any road you like.

Players can buy streets for set prices and build anything from skyscrapers to cottages in order to build up rent earnings, rather than waiting for one of your mates to empty his wallet as recompense for landing on your land.

If your home town street has been snapped up by the next door neighbour you always hated, then you're are encouraged to make a bid, and if he hasn't responded in seven days, it's yours, no matter how minimal your offer.

This sounds like great fun to us. Monopoly City Streets is free to play and goes live on Wednesday 9th September.
