“We are in discussions and have been working with every publisher,” OnLive CEO Steve Perlman told T3 when we questioned him directly about the upcoming Call of Duty and Battlefield releases coming to OnLive.
Remaining cagey with precise details he added: “You’ll be seeing games coming from essentially every major publisher whether or not they announce it before the UK launch or shortly thereafter.” Following success in the US an OnLive UK release date has been set for September 22nd.
With the two first person shooters set to battle it out in the coming months for the title of the year’s most popular game the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 release date has been set for November 8th, a little under two weeks after the Battlefield 3 release date of October 28th.
Suggesting the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield OnLive releases could be held up by commercial reasons rather than technical obstacles, Perlman has hinted that both titles should be hitting OnLive before the year’s end.
“As far a particular games that have not been available on OnLive, those that are big blockbuster titles and have been available on consoles, it’s crazy. We have these things in our office, our testers have got them done and then there’s this thing or that thing holding them up.
“Some of the games that people are waiting for you might see them appear next week, next month or by the end of this year.”
