Apple of offer up a piece of iCloud for free?
Mac uses who upgrade to Mac OS X 10.7 may get free access to certain portions of Apple's iCloud online streaming and storage service. AppleInsider reckons that upgraders to Lion will get the service currently known as MobileMe for diddly squat.

....while movies and TV shows could still feature
Apple is still trying to secure deals with major movie studios to allow users to view their movies and TV shows they own for use on the iCloud streaming service. If everything goes to plan Apple's service will scan your hard-drive for movies and TV shows and then stream a copy of them from Apple's servers.

Twitter officially takes charge of photos
As expected, Twitter has announced a photo-sharing service that it says will remove the friction for users uploading their pictures to posts from the website and official smartphone apps. The announcement leaves the future of third-party clients like Twitpic and yfrom uncertain.

The China problem: Gmail hit by hackers
The accounts of hundreds Gmail users, including high-ranking US officials have been hacked. Here's the statement from Google: "This campaign, which appears to originate from Jinan, China, affected what seem to be the personal Gmail accounts of hundreds of users including, among others, senior U.S. government officials, Chinese political activists, officials in several Asian countries (predominantly South Korea), military personnel and journalists."

Zuckerberg set to make 700 millionth friendship
The countdown to the one billion landmark is well and truly on with Facebook approaching its 700,000,000th member. The data comes from Facebook stats tracker Socialbacker.
