Move comes as Espoo looks to regain market share

Drop could spark price war according to analysts.

Nokia has slashed the price of its N8, C7 and E6 Symbian smartphones by 15 per cent, in a move which is being seen as Espoo’s latest attempt to regain its popularity in the smartphone space.

“Two industry sources” told Reuters that the trio of top-end phones weren’t the only models to see price cuts. Other, unnamed phones are also being dropped in price, on a scale which, “…has not been seen for a very, very long time.”

Analysts warned that the cuts could lead to a price war, as rivals like Samsung look to drive home their advantage and ensure that Nokia doesn’t regain its position at the top of the smartphone charts.
