Android phone gets minor software update

The HTC Desire smartphone is at the receiving end of a new software update.

The support website of HTC announced the software update, which throws in a few minor changes.

The update includes an Android OS update patch, enhanced multi-inbox Gmail support and an improved Russian keyboard layout.

HTC's support website also tells Desire users: After installing the update, you can confirm a successful update by confirming the Software number (From the Home Screen go to MENU> Settings> About Phone> Software Information> Software number). The new Software number will be 2.10.405.2.

These firmware updates are now happening over the air. As always, remember to back up your handset before installing the update as a precaution, although the support website says no data will be deleted.

The website also urges using a wi-fi connection as it's a large update, or else data charges would apply.
