HTC speeds up their touchy-feely handset

The rumours only started last week, but already HTC has announced the darn thing, in possibly the world's shortest-ever lead on gossip time. What are we talking about? Only the HTC Touch HD - the one HTC phone you haven't seen millions of leaked photos of.

Forget 8.0-megapixel cameras, the symbol of HTC's status is the 3.8-inch high resolution screen. The full touchscreen allows you to watch films and peruse your pics on the "not really HD, but we'll call it HD anyway" screen. Your contacts book never looked this good.

If you happen to be more popular than a post-home-video Paris Hilton on prom night, the phone is being shipped with an 8GB MicroSD card, and it'll send your photos to your mates 18 times faster than 3G, apparently, with its HSDPA internet connectivity. We'll have our stop watches ready for that one.

Other bits thrown into the HTC Touch HD mix are a 5.0-megapixel camera with auto flash, GPS and Windows 6.1 mobile.

Available towards the end of the year, but we've no word on how much it'll cost you. Still, we'll keep you HTC fans posted.
