Google Search app hits Windows Phone marketplace

Bing not to your tastes? Not a problem...

The alternative to Microsoft's proprietary search engine now available

If you’ve just snapped up a handset sporting the new Windows Phone 7 operating system, you’ll no doubt be aware that many of its ke functions plumb into micrsoft services. The search engine is Bing, the browser IE and the email client is Hotmail, for instance.

One of those services now gives you a choice choice, however, as Google has just launched its own search app in the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace.

The app, which is free to download, can be pinned to your homescreen and provide one-click access to a mobile google search, replete with Instant results (that auto-populate as you type).

It can also be set to scan your current location for results based on you current whereabouts, and offers the option to research a query from a list of your previous web hunts.
