Footage of Henry Cavill has been going viral overnight, after the actor stole the show at Royal Ascot. Clad in top hat and tails, the icon looked every bit as dapper as one would hope of the occasion.
Sitting on his wrist was an equally impressive watch. Wearing a 1926 Longines mono-pusher chronograph isn't something all of us non-ambassadors will be able to enjoy. Still, if you want to nail the look, there are ways of doing it for less. Here are five of my top picks.
Seiko Presage Cocktail Time
This is one of the classiest dress watches for not much cash!

If you're trying to snag a dress watch on a budget, Seiko absolutely must be in the conversation. Models like the Presage Cocktail Time offer some of the best value on the market, with quality materials and stunning dial art.
This one is my personal pick, and a bit of a bargain at just £429. But any model in this range will serve you handsomely.
Detrash McQ: Salmon
It's hard to ignore a watch as conscious (and good-looking!) as this one.

Getting all dolled up is all well and good, but it's important to do some good, too. That's exactly what Detrash champions, with watches which use eco-conscious materials and give back to charities protecting the planet.
The McQ: Salmon is one of the very best picks on the market right now for those seeking an affordable dress watch.
Tissot Telemeter 1938
Visually, this is probably the closest to Cavill's watch.

One of the first things I thought of when I saw the watch in question was this Tissot model. It might not be a mono-pusher, but the busy nature of the dial and the chronograph functionality certainly put it in a similar spot.
It's not cheap, but it is great. I've seen it on sale before, so keep an eye out next week as the Amazon Prime Day sales start to make prices fall.
Montblanc 1858 Monopusher Chrono
Snagging a monopusher chronograph isn't a cheap endeavour, but this one is packed with vintage charm.

At last, we've reached a mono-pusher model! This Montblanc option is a real looker, with a healthy does of vintage charm.
It's far from cheap, but this style is rarely going to be .
Cartier Tank Louis
The epitome of timelessness. Not cheap, but worth every penny.
Affordable pick: Cartier Tank (steel, solar) £3,200

If money's no object and you simply want a timeless dress watch, there's no better place to park your cash than the Cartier Tank Louis. Worn by everyone from Muhammed Ali to Princess Diana – and currently enjoying a renewed spell of popularity on the wrist of Harry Styles.
If you're going to do it, this is the one. 18k rose gold case, brown alligator leather strap and a mechanical movement inside to attest to the timelessness of this design.
It's not cheap, though, so those looking to save a little cash should try the steel model.
