Motorola Milestone 2 unveiled alongside rugged Defy
Motorola launches two new Android devices
Following the success of the Milestone and the Milestone XT720, Motorola has today announced the next in the series as the Motorola Milestone 2 is unveiled alongside a new rugged handset to be named the Motorola Defy.
Running Android 2.2, FroYo, direct from the box the Motorola Milestone 2 comes fully equipped with a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, 720p HD video recording capabilities and Adobe Flash Player 10.1 all neatly packaged inside the handset’s full QWERTY slider body with 3.7-inch 480x854p VGA display.
Completing the newly fashioned Milestone 2 package is a speedy 1GHz processor, 8GB of internal storage, expandable up to 32GB via microSD and much improved, raised and bevelled keys on the slide-out QWERTY keyboard meaning that unlike the original Milestone, typing isn’t a chore. The new Milestone handset also acts as a 3G mobile hotspot able to support up to five external devices.
Join the Milestone 2 on Motorola’s plinth of new devices is the Defy which sports the same 3.7-inch screen, 5-megapixel camera and 720p HD video capabilities as the Milestone 2 in a smaller, rugged body that can withstand heavy-duty knocks, drops, scratches and water up to IP67 specifications.
Coming preloaded with Android 2.1 with no FroYo update in sight, the Defy features a lite version of Adobe’s Flash Player allowing for limited access to Flash-based online content. Both devices feature Motorola’s own MOTOBLUR skin for an improved user experience with contacts and social media outlets.
Whilst exact UK launch dates, handset cost and carriers have yet to be confirmed for the two devices, Motorola has stated that both phones will hit shelves before the end of the year in Q4.
