Another suicide at Foxconn factory

Latest death at Apple parts maker comes despite safety nets being installed

Worker falls to her death just five months after joining component company.

Yet another employee at Foxconn has committed suicide. The company, which supplies components to Apple for a string of its top end gadgets, has been at the centre of international concern about working practices following a spate of deaths.

The worker, named only as Miss Liu, was caught by safety nets installed around the factory in Kunshan. However, she later died from her injuries. It’s the thirteenth such case at Foxconn and will doubtless again raise concerns once more.

Earlier this year, both Foxconn and Apple faced questions about how staff were treated, with questions raised about the pressured environment and the high-level security surrounding the latest tech coming out of the factories.

What do you think? Does Foxconn need to do more to prevent these deaths? Have your say on Facebook and Twitter.
