Vodafone drop original Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

Original 10.1 canned in favour of slimmer revamp

Slim Samsung Galaxy Tab ends life of original design

Samsung’s original and portly Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has been canned by exclusive retail partner Vodafone with the network provider opting instead to offer the revamped slim model.

Having officially unveiled the Galaxy Tab 10.1 at Mobile World Congress back in February with a 10.9mm thick form factor and hefty 8-megapixel rear-mounted camera, Samsung was forced to rethink its tablet plans in the wake of the launch of the super slim Apple iPad 2.

Reacting to the release of the iPad 2 Samsung outed a revamped Galaxy Tab 10.1 with the freshly designed tablet dropping its snapper to a 3-megapixel offering in favour of an 8.6mm thick design.

Whilst Samsung had previously confirmed Vodafone would continue to stock the original, fatter, Galaxy Tab 10.1, customers of the red-hued mobile network who registered interest in the device have started to receive notifications stating the retailer will now only offer the updated model, ending the life of the original 10.1 before it hit stores.
