Yahoo Pulse: Google Buzz rival imminent

Social networking aggregator with privacy tools primed

New Yahoo Pulse service set to rock up this week and give Buzz a beating.

Yahoo Pulse is set to become the latest social networking effort from one of the web’s big boys. Due to launch in the next few days according to reports across the pond, the new service will aggregate news feeds and latest updates, all while managing privacy in one place.

Word is Yahoo Pulse will act as the ultimate web home page, pulling in your mate’s statuses and the latest tiresome Tweets. Yahoo already does this on a basic level, but the new service is said to offer a sleeker interface, tabbed access to different networks and deep integration with Yahoo Mail.

Most importantly though, it’s said to have a single privacy menu which will apply to multiple services. That’s very sharp considering Facebook’s recent debacle with how you share your info with the rest of the web. And, of course, Google Buzz’s huge privacy niggles which surfaced almost immediately after launch.

Flickr will doubtless be involved, what with it being a Yahoo pet project, so expect Pulse to give the once dominant internet type some much-needed hype when it gets the go ahead in the coming days.
