Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy have confirmed that they will exclusively offer the world’s first 3D phone the LG Optimus 3D almost a week before it is made available nationwide in the UK.
Set to launch the 3D capable Optimus 3D this Friday, July 1st ahead of the handset’s national rollout on July 6th, Carphone Warehouse will stock the extra-dimensional handset in 20 UK stores whilst Best Buy will offer the device in its four leading outlets.
Running Google’s Android 2.2 FroYo operating system the LG Optimus boasts a 4.3-inch WVGA stereoscopic 3D display allowing users to enjoy 3D content on the move without the need for 3D glasses whilst a dual-lens rear-mounted 5-megapixel camera allows users to create their own 3D stills or 720p HD 3D content.
“It’s safe to say that 3D technology is growing, with more events and entertainment being screened in 3D than ever,” announced Graham Stapleton, Chief Commercial Officer at The Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy. He added: “The LG Optimus 3D features some ground breaking technology and we’re proud to be able to offer the world’s first 3D smartphone exclusively at The Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy.”
Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy are to offer the LG Optimus 3D free on £35 per month 24 month contracts or for £499.95 as a SIM free pay-as-you-go device.
