Apple's 12 Days of Christmas app returns, promising freebies

And what will the iTunes elves bestow upon us this year?

Free apps, books, TV shows and songs for everyone! Apple's 12 Days of Christmas app is back for the festive season

Getting free stuff out of Apple is usually like getting blood out of a particularly stubborn and heavily-armed stone, except for that one time of year when the company gets all happy-Scrooge-on-Christmas-morning generous.

Yes, the 12 Days of Christmas App is available to download from the App Store once again, promising one free item a day between December 26th and January 8th.

As usual there'll be a free song, book, TV show, app or music video a day available to download gratis, for 24 hours only.

If users don't have an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, offers will also be available via the desktop iTunes program from December 26.

If you're lucky enough to be the recipient of a brand new iOS device this Christmas, this is a great way to experiment with new content without reaching for your wallet.

Due to licensing restrictions, the promotion is only available in Europe and Canada so UK iTunes users should be inspired to fill their bellies on behalf of their American brethren.

We'll let you know if anything unspeakably ace pops up.
