New PS3 Slim arriving on 18th August?

Is the Slim leaking out like the PSP Go?

It’s a rumour that has burnt even brighter over the last few weeks, especially in the face of Amazon's recent mishap, and reports that even the PS2 was selling more units than its more powerful predecessor. Now it seems we should expect the PS3 Slim to come and save the day for Sony’s much maligned and expensive Monolithic console on August 18th.

Reports about a scaled-down PS3 model has gathered pace this time by way of French website JeuxVideo’s claims that the PS3 Slim will be officially unveiled at the upcoming GamesCom event in Cologne on August 18th. It also claims that the thinner console will come with a substantially slimmer price tag of around £250.

Speculation around a smaller PS3 Slim has been stirring for over a year now, and with Sony rumoured to be ramping up PS3 production it appears an official announcement could be just around the corner.

In a recent T3.com poll we asked you what you wanted to see from this year's E3 expo, and you voted in your numbers to see the arrival of the PS3 Slim. But despite Sony revealing the PSP Go instead, the PS3 Slim could yet follow.

The double whammy of the PSP Go and the Slim possibly joining forces to pose the ultimate Christmas present dilemma could provide the boost that Sony so clearly needs as they continue to falter behind gaming rivals Nintendo and Microsoft.
