HTC Wildfire available for pre-order on Vodafone

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini joins pre-order party

Vodafone gets hot addition with Wildfire pre-orders

Vodafone has announced it is to stock the HTC Wildfire as pre-orders for the Android 2.1 device go live ahead of the handset’s release later this month.

Customers are able to ensure their ownership of the forthcoming Wildfire starting today as Vodafone offer the handset for free with a £20 per month contract. Add an extra fiver to the tariff options though and the contract will be reduced to 18-months from the otherwise agonisingly-long two years.

Essentially a slower version of the HTC Desire with a lower-res screen, the Wildfire is also to be released on the 3 and Virgin Media networks despite neither company having yet shed any light on the tariffs they will offer. T-Mobile, which is also set to host the new HTC model, currently has a ‘coming soon’ page on its website to be filled by the Wildfire.

Also unveiled for pre-order on the Vodafone website today was the Android run Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini. Again available for free on a two-year, £20 per month contract, the X10 Mini and its 2.6-inch screen will come with 100 minutes and 500 texts compared with the 300 mins and unlimited texts tied in with the Wildfire. Both handset contracts include 500MB of inclusive data.
