HTC Desire Android 2.3 update: Three update now mid May

Slightly later than planned Gingerbread boost

Three had promised to bring roll out Desire update by end of April or beginning of May.

Three has said that it will be rolling out Android 2.3 Gingerbread to the original HTC Desire in mid-May, just weeks after claiming on Twitter that the software bump would arrive in either late April or early May.

The news comes from comments on Three’s own website relating to the slick new HTC Sensation. When one user asked when the original Desire would be getting Gingerbread, a moderator replied, “The HTC Desire will be getting the 2.3 update in the middle of May. We will keep you updated.”

This slight delay shouldn’t cause too much concern for now, but after last year’s lengthy waits for Android FroYo to appear on the same device across a number of networks, some users are understandably concerned.
