HTC's oddly named Facebook phones to launch in the UK June 17th
Online retailer and master of handset release leaks Expansys has made the recently announced HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa available for pre-order with both devices scheduled for a June 17th arrival.
The two handsets, both unveiled at Mobile World Congress 2011 in Barcelona last week sporting Facebook-centric user experiences with the social networking behemoth working closely with the Taiwanese manufacturer in the phones’ design.
Whilst HTC has been keen to stress the handsets are not Facebook-branded devices despite the close cross-company cooperation and a branded Facebook key appearing on both devices’ bottom front panel. Despite offering the handsets on pre-order with a June 17th arrival, Expansys has failed to offer pricing information on the phones HTC has confirmed will launch in the UK during the second quarter of 2011.
Both set to land running Google’s Android 2.4, Gingerbread, mobile OS, the ChaCha and Salsa will each tout a 5-megapixel rear-mounted snapper with a second VGA camera fitted up front. Whilst the ChaCha will host a 2.6-inch 480 x 320p capacitive touchscreen around a full QWERTY keyboard and a landscape optimised version of HTC’s Sense UI, the Salsa will come equipped with a more traditional 3.4-inch touchscreen display.
