This smart toaster displays your family photos while toasting your favourite bread – yes, really
Revolution debuts its latest touchscreen toaster that doubles as a photo album and calendar
QUICK SUMMARY
Revolution has launched the R180 Connect Plus Toaster, a smart touchscreen toaster priced at $449.95.
The Revolution R180 Connect Plus Toaster has 38 bread types and seven browning levels to choose from, and when sat idle, it can display your family photos.
I thought I’d seen it all, but it turns out I was wrong – you can now get a toaster which displays your family photos as you wait for it to toast your bread. The new Revolution R180 Connect Plus Toaster is the brand’s most advanced model yet, featuring multiple bread types and a touchscreen that acts as a photo frame and calendar.
Almost every appliance has some type of smart features nowadays, including the humble toaster. Most smart toasters on the market have sensors that track the colour of your bread to avoid burning, while others have a touchscreen display which allows you to customise your toast’s brownness.
Kitchen appliance company, Revolution Cooking has taken this to the next level with the Revolution R180 Connect Plus Toaster. At the front of the toaster is a full-colour 7-inch LCD touchscreen which displays toast types and your most-used settings, as well as a countdown timer to let you know when your toast is ready.
But where the screen really stands out is when the toaster is idle. When this happens, the Revolution R180 Connect Plus Toaster turns into a digital photo frame which displays a slideshow of up to 24 family photos. With its Wi-Fi connectivity, it also shows the time, date and weather forecast so you can check key details about each day while you wait for your toast.
Using Revolution's InstaGLO heating technology and built-in sensors, the Revolution R180 Connect Plus Toaster adjusts its heat depending on bread type and moisture levels. It also ‘sears’ toast to crisp up the edges and reduce burning.
The Revolution R180 Connect Plus Toaster has 38 bread types to choose from, including white, brown and multi-grain bread, sourdough, bagels, waffles, pastries, English muffins, and more. It also comes with gluten-free settings, seven brownness levels and you can select if your bread is fresh, frozen or needs reheating.
As a two-slice stainless steel toaster, the Revolution R180 Connect Plus Toaster has been given extra-wide slots to cater to thicker bread types. Another handy feature is its Toastie Press mode, an additional accessory which allows you to make toasties, paninis and quesadillas in the toaster – although you’ll have to buy it separately.

The Revolution R180 Connect Plus Toaster is available to buy for $449.95 at Revolution. It’s not cheap by any means, mainly due to the technology involved in the construction, but this is almost quadruple the cost of what you’d expect to pay for a regular toaster.
Personally, I’ll stick to a normal toaster and use my phone to look through photos. Having your toaster display your photos is slightly ridiculous but I can’t deny that the Revolution R180 Connect Plus Toaster is pretty fun to look at, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it makes its way into many people’s homes.
