25th anniversary edition console outed

Japanese-only hub is definitely worth getting hold of.

The 3DS might not be landing until next year, but if you’re jonesing for some Nintendo handheld action now, then take a peek at these new Mario DSi and DSi XL special editions.

The red consoles, replete with an old-school Mario logo on the DSi and mushroom, star and flower logos on the DSi XL, are heading to Japan later this month. The 26 October to be precise.

The DSi is set to cost £113, while the DSi XL will hit £135. Sadly, there’s no news on when, or if, these natty efforts will reach these shores. We suggest either importing one stat, or heading to Japan yourself. Either way, you win.
