Release of next-gen phone shaping up for late summer.
Gossip about the iPhone 5’s release date has been rumbling on for months. And while many had assumed it’d land some time in September, new tittle tattle seems to confirm Cupertino is working towards an August release.
BGR has spoken to, “…an incredibly solid source,” which has told it that the new iPhone will at least be shown off to the world, “…by the end of summer, late August-ish.” The news comes just days after it was revealed that Apple is hiring new staff to work on an major iPhone project from 16 August.
On top of the chatter around the iPhone 5, BGR’s source also says Apple’s planning on continuing to sell the iPhone 3GS, possibly as low as £217 SIM-free. Keeping the iPhone 4 on shelves as well means Apple will at last be able to compete with Google Android across the entire smartphone gamut.
