Retaining the title for Google’s Android OS, the Samsung Galaxy S II has become the 2011 T3 Gadget Awards Phone of the Year beating competition from the Apple iPhone 4 and the HTC Sensation
In a hard fought battle dominated by Android powered handsets the Samsung Galaxy S II has been named the T3 Gadget Awards 2011 Phone of the Year having seen off competition from the similarly specced HTC Sensation, Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, Motorola Atrix, HTC Incredible S and iOS touting Apple iPhone 4.
Samsung’s Galaxy S II has risen to popularity since hitting stores in April repeatedly outselling the iPhone 4 to become the UK’s most popular handset three months in a row. The Samsung Galaxy S II is set to face still competition to its newly acquired crown following last week’s official unveiling of the iPhone 4S with the iOS 5 device to go on sale this Friday, October 14th.

A true monster of the mobile market the Samsung Galaxy S II runs Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread mobile operating system plumped buy a hefty 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM and a whopping 4.27-inch 800 x 480p Super AMOLED Plus display.
An 8-megapixel rear-mounted camera with 1080p Full HD video recording capabilities is backed up by a second, 2-megapixel forward-facing snapper with storage handled by a microSD slot capable of supporting up to 32GB of storage.
