Android 2.1 for HTC Hero finally lands in the UK

HTC Hero moves from Android 1.5 to 2.1 in the UK

HTC Hero is getting Android 2.1 Eclair updates in the UK.

HTC Hero users can finally move on to the Android 2.1 'Eclair' from the Android 1.5 'Cupcake' OS after a long wait.

The updates are finally being rolled out OTA (over the air) for unlocked HTC Hero phones, just in time for HTC to keep their promise of releasing the update by the end of June.

The Eclair updates give the HTC Hero Google Maps navigation, live wallpapers, an improved Android Market interface and a new version of the current UI. It's being rolled out in two packages and HTC is advising users to use free Wi-Fi hotspots or an unlimited data plan while upgrading. In addition, remember to back up data before the upgrade.
